It is a social science that seeks to understand individuals and groups by both establishing general principles and researching specific cases.
Psychology can be studied as a science, in which empirical evidence is used to infer causal, correlational, and explanatory relationships among variables.
In this sense, it aims to describe people’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors without judging them morally or intellectually.
The word “psychology” comes from the Greek roots “psȳkhē” (ψυχή) meaning “breath”, “life”, or “soul” and “-logia” (λογία) meaning “study”.
